Bringing Big Things To The Boyd County Community
For over 174 Years the Glockner Family has participated in the economic development of the local communities we serve. And through the world wars, great floods, and economic struggles that we’ve weathered as a family business, one thing is for certain: Within every story of struggle, there’s always a silver lining!
The KYOVA Mall has been one of those stories of struggle. Labeled by many as the “Black Cloud” of Boyd County, for years it’s been a constant reminder of economic decline and job loss for the local community. Since its beginning in 2005, the majority of the businesses that filled up KYOVA either closed or relocated in the years following.
In July of 2021 we announced that in partnership with Boyd County and the Camp family, we’ve got a plan to turn this economic disaster into a multi-million dollar entertainment destination! When you read the plans for the first time, its hard to actually believe it! But take it from our friends at The Daily Independent, big things are coming:
“So what could be coming? A Malibu Jack’s, a farmers market, a 15,000-20,000 capacity sports/concert arena, a 3,000-5,000-person convention center, a 300-room hotel, a 100-unit apartment complex, a bourbon and/or beer distillery, up to eight or nine restaurants and a revamped movie theater. A kayak slip, a fishing area in the Little Sandy River and a walking/jogging trail are factored into the plans, too....
Before the dust settles, the county’s economic development director, T.J. Morrison, said a total of $30 million will be invested into the property by all the parties involved and 800 jobs will be created.”
